Design philosophy

A quiet sense of direction

A quiet sense of direction

A quiet sense of direction

The goal was not to reinvent the field watch, but to create one that feels more personal, more regional, and more considered. A chevron is our design language, inspired by the landscapes and the direction they represent. It serves as a quiet visual thread, connecting the hands, crown, and dial. The dial texture is influenced by wet asphalt after rain — matte, dark, and subtly uneven.

N47 is a watch brand shaped by the Pacific Northwest. We believe good design is quiet. Proportion over excess, purpose over decoration, longevity over trends. Rooted in place, built to go anywhere.

Founder's note

Founder's note

I moved to the Pacific Northwest for work. No particular attachment to the region at the time. But after years here, it gets under your skin. The grey, the green, the mountain showing up on a clear morning. I started wondering what a watch shaped by this place would actually look like.

I've collected watches for years. Modded a few. Spent too long browsing catalogs and imagining combinations. At some point I realized that assembling parts from a catalog has a ceiling. If I wanted something that felt genuinely mine, it had to start from zero.

The chevron was the first thing that stuck. It reads as a mountain. It reads as direction. I've worked with directional marks for years in my day job designing interfaces, but on a dial, it became something else entirely. It became the whole visual language. The hands, the crown, the indices. It all follows from that one shape.

The name Tahoma comes from the original Puyallup name for Mt. Rainier. The pine tree at 6 o'clock, the rain-textured dial, the chevron that runs through the entire watch. None of it is trying to be literal. These are things you notice the second or third time you look at the dial. That was intentional.

The initial production run is planned for 100 pieces. Self-funded, built between my day job and whatever hours I can find. No investors, no rush. Just one watch, done right.
